Thomas is my favorite character as well! I'm not sure why so many people hate him, I don't think he's so awful considering what he must have gone through. XD He just needs a boyfriend, then maybe he'll cheer up a bit.
Yeah exactly. I really like his backstory and even in season one I liked him without knowing much about him except evilness, because his evil tricks were kinda funny and not harmful or anything haha
I actually have a pretty patchy memory of season 1, which I think is odd because Downton is currently one of my favorite shows. I think I'll have to do a bit of catching up on netflix. XD I agree though, he never really harms anyone but himself with all of that plotting and smoking, which I suppose is a bit sad, because he's obviously a clever character. I'm really hoping that season 4 will continue on with this pattern of having Thomas as more of a main character. And with the new additions to the cast, I'm crossing my fingers that one of them will turn into a love interest! Ahh, sorry, I feel like I'm just rambling.
Me too! I've got a hunch that it's going to be about Mary and Thomas
I certainly hope so! I think Branson and Mary will be the main characters for upstairs, and Thomas the main character downstairs, possibly with Jimmy and the new valet, Green, playing large parts? There's so many new cast members, and so many old cast members are leaving, it's kind of making me nervous that the show will change too much. Ahh, yes, I wish Thomas and Jimmy could be together, but I suppose for Thomas' plot to continue, it had to go a little wrong. I'm sure they'll have quite an interesting friendship, though. Thinking it over, Jimmy was actually pretty cool about the whole thing. XD Imagine if it had been Alfred!

Really that many? Pff makes me worry a bit too. I've heard of O'Brien leaving, I didn't like her but her leaving would change a lot I think.
My mam is convinced that Jimmy is in the closet haha so we shall see..

There are quite a lot, at least I think so! The show's barely changed at all in previous seasons, so maybe it just seems like a bunch. There's six, though I'm not sure how many will be permanent additions.
1. A singer who will stay as a guest at Downton (Dame Kiri Te Kanawa)
2. Lady Shackleton, a friend of Dowager Violet's (Dame Harriet Walter)
3. Lord Gillingham, old family friend of the Crawley's and possible love interest for Mary (Tom Cullen)
4. Green, a visiting valet, most likely accompanying the Lord (Nigel Harman)
5. Duchess of Yeovil (Joanna David)
6. Aristocrat Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden)
All of the women seem to be older, though I'm sure Sybil's nanny will be youthful. I wish that O'Brien weren't leaving, she's awful, but still a large part of the show. I was thinking that maybe her secret would get out and she'd go up in flames, but perhaps Julian Fellowes thought that would be a bit too dramatic after the deaths in season three, because I don't think she'll be returning for season four at all. I suppose they'll just have to backtrack a little and have the downstairs cast explain? :/ I was hoping that Jimmy's just in the closet as well, though it doesn't seem to be the case, since they decided to just be friends and all. Maybe he's just nervous? Idk.
Alfred! Ahh, with O'Brien gone, he'll definitely be my least favorite of all the characters, he's so frustrating! That look on his face after seeing Thomas kiss Jimmy, OTL. He looked ready to vomit.

Oooh yeah it's true, and a few minor characters getting more appearances like Rose and Cora's mother am I right? Sounds like an interesting list.. I already checked out the new male cast but none of them look like a potential love interest for Thomas? Their looks & their character's characteristics and background..

Well think about Jimmy's situation: I don't think it's odd that a man during that time and age only wants to be friends with a homosexual, especially when he's a homosexual himself. It's only safer that way. But yeah we shall see.. I still feel there's proof that he's not that much into women haha But I want to see more of him nonetheless. He seems like an interesting and promising character.
Hmm yeah Alfred is such a tit, my friend totally wants to know more about him in the next season.. I'd like to know more too, I mean I'd like to have an explanation for his behaviour. But he's still a tit to me. Blunt in a non-charismatic way. HAHA Yes my friends and I always say that his complexion is a complexion you expect to find between a door and its post with a nasty expression.
